Summary: | The main purpose of this research is to generate the electricity and remediate the wastewater simultaneously as an effort to develop a sustainable wastewater treatment system by designing a novel hybrid system of PFC and electro-Fenton process. The research contains four major objectives which initially cover the development and feasibility evaluation of the hybrid system. PFC is employed to generate the electricity for electro-Fenton process. The role of azo dye, Reactive Black 5 (RB5) at the PFC and electro-Fenton reactor was evaluated. Besides, the influence of operating parameter such as initial dye concentration, UV light and iron plate on the hybrid system performance was investigated in order to understand the working principle of the hybrid system. The ZnO photoanode were fabricated by using anodizing and immobilization method. The materials characterization of ZnO photoanode were analysed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The degradation of dye was determined by UV-Vis spectrophotometer through the measurement of dye concentration. |
