| Summary: | In this research, sea mango (Cerbera odollam) was used as a raw material for preparation of the AC. The production of AC will undergo several processes such as semi-carbonization at 200˚C with nitrogen gas (N2), impregnation with different concentration of phosphoric acid (H3PO4) i.e. 40, 50 and 60 wt%, followed by carbonization with difference activation time i.e. 1, 2 and 3hour and difference activation temperature i.e. 400,500 and 600˚C with flowing of CO2 gas. All sample will be optimized using Design of Expert (DOE) software, where the suggested sample from DOE will be known as OSMAC. OSMAC was then impregnated with DES in order to increase the CO2 adsorption capacity and will be known as DESAC. Characterization of the samples will be conducted to determine the total surface area, surface morphology, total ash content, element composition and chemical bonding for each sample. The CO2 adsorption performance will be tested using a few parameters i.e. different types of adsorbent, different inlet flow rate and different amount of adsorbent dosage. The physical and chemical interaction between DES functional group on the AC and CO2 gas will be determined. |
