Riassunto: | The scope of this project is to develop a screening procedure of medical image analysis for thalassemia. Generally, a study of morphological blood smear is done to detect the thalassemia cells. Thus, this research will focus on processing the thalassemia and normal blood images based on blood samples. In this project, the detection of red blood cell morphologies will be developed to differentiate between the normal and abnormal blood cells for thalassemia disease. The blood images are captured manually and automatically processed with the proposed screening procedures. The development of an intelligent thalassemia screening procedures includes an automated image processing techniques and classification of the blood cells. For that purpose, the image enhancement techniques and image processing procedures are developed in order to get fully segmented red blood cells. Then, the new technique will be formulated for feature extraction procedure and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) will be used to classify the blood cell samples in two processes which are classification between normal and abnormal cells, and between the types of thalassemia and normal cells. This development is expected to help the haematologist in visualizing the suspected thalassemia slide. |
