The recycled PET samples were prepared by secondary recycling which involves sorting, cleaning, cutting and melting the bottles into the oven at its melting temperature. The properties of the recycled PET bottles were compared with its properties before the recycling process. Hardness test was run to compare the hardness of the sample before and after the recycling. Density test was studied to investigate the effect of recycling to its density. Based on the result, the density of the samples dropped after the recycling due to its crystalline behavior and also molecular weight. The spectroscopy behavior of the PET bottle samples were analyzed using the Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The chemical and functional groups that present in the PET bottles were investigated. The analysis showed that the recycled PET bottles exhibit the similar spectrum wavelength but at varying intensities with the PET bottles before the recycling process. Morphology of the surface and fracture of the both PET bottles whether it was recycled or not was analyzed by Scanning Electron Microscopy. The images showed that the stretching of the molecules before the recycling process while the relaxing of the molecules after the bottles are recycled. Thermogravimetry Analyzer is used to analyze the thermal behavior of the samples. All of the samples shown similar degradation behavior in the TGA analysis.
